Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (w/m) Biotechnology: Biotransport and Biopreservation, USA

This PhD position is an educational and research partnership between Clemson University and MUSC in the US. The mission is to bridge engineering and physical sciences with life science disciplines, to better understand biological and disease processes. The program consists of seven primary faculties that are permanently located and conduct their research full-time in a town on the east coast, and twenty-six basic science and clinical faculties who hold faculty appointments in the program. Bioengineering research and education collaborations have been established in ten departments and colleges in areas involving cancer, heart disease, neuroscience, orthopedics, rehabilitation, dental and craniofacial applications, ophthalmology, surgery, and pharmacology.

Currently, we have openings for fully funded Ph.D. (Research Assistantships) positions. These positions are available to start early 2025. The positions will be primarily responsible for developing biopreservation strategies and technologies for musculoskeletal and vascular tissues. Successful candidates will have a background in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering. Prior research experience with cell culture, alamarBlue assay, live/dead fluorescent imaging, biomechanical analysis, and FEBio/COMSOL are highly desirable.
