The Department of Packaging and Resource Management offers the part-time Bachelor's degree courses in Packaging Technology and Sustainable Resource Management as well as the international Master's degree course in Packaging Technology and Sustainability. The courses focus on the sustainability, health aspects and safety of packaging as well as the careful use of resources. We are looking to recruit for ongoing research projects as soon as possible.

Your Responsibilities

  • Initiating and drafting international and national research funding proposals (EU-Horizon/ERC, FFG, JRZ, VKS, FWF, and more).
  • Managing, coordinating, and actively contributing to ongoing research projects.
  • Engaging in networking activities, initiating industrial collaborations, and conducting contract research.
  • Writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Planning and initiating third-mission activities.
  • Supporting the research center's management in external representation and internal reporting within the university.
  • Teaching workload of 4 hours per week (SWS) and supervising thesis projects.

Your Profile

  • Extensive experience in acquiring third-party funding and drafting successful research proposals, as well as managing and coordinating externally funded research projects.
  • Completed higher education (PhD preferred) in a relevant field, such as a technical or natural sciences discipline with a focus on sustainability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more of the core areas of the research center: packaging safety assessment, material sciences for packaging, life cycle assessment, or waste management/recycling technologies.
  • Proven record of multiple first- and co-authorships in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Confident demeanor and readiness to engage in networking and communication with partners from research and industry.
  • Willingness to travel (max. 10%) and participate in international scientific conferences.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office.
  • High resilience (especially during project proposal submissions), teamwork orientation, excellent communication skills, flexibility, and self-initiative.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, German skills nice to have.

General Conditions

  • Place of employment is at the location Vienna 10 - "Altes Landgut"
  • Permanent employment with 39 hours per week and the opportunity to start a career as an Associate FH Professor (duration 3-4 years)
  • The salary is based on the FH Campus Wien salary system and depends on previous relevant professional experience. The minimum salary with appropriate training is from EUR 3,787 gross per month (full-time basis, 39 hours per week) - FH Campus Wien is not subject to a collective agreement
  • Bonuses for successfully acquired third-party funds and management of research projects
  • Start of employment from 01.02.2025
