About LGT Venture Philanthropy

LGT Venture Philanthropy (LGT VP) is an independent charitable foundation established in 2007. With teams in Switzerland, Sub-Saharan Africa, and India, the foundation strives to improve the quality of life of people facing disadvantages, contribute to healthy ecosystems, and build resilient, inclusive, and prosperous communities. It does this by strengthening the capabilities of locally rooted partner organizations that deliver effective, scalable solutions to systemic problems across the health, education, and environment sectors and that contribute directly to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The foundation provides flexible, multi-year core funding and builds long-term partnerships to catalyze collaboration and collective impact. In addition, the LGT Impact Fellowship matches experienced professionals with partner organizations to provide them with strategic business expertise. Since 2007, LGT VP has supported 77 organizations, facilitated the matching of over 200 fellows, contributing to improving the lives of 9.3 million people.

About the role

LGT Venture Philanthropy is seeking a Fellowship Manager to support the LGT Venture Philanthropy team in leading and executing its annual LGT Impact Fellowship program. The Fellowship Manager will work intensively with the LGT VP team in managing all aspects of the program, from design/development to implementation. The Fellowship Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end program management. The Fellowship Manager will closely work with portfolio organizations of LGT Venture Philanthropy across Sub-Saharan Africa and India, and will work with the LGT VP team in Switzerland and Investment Managers in Kenya and India. This role is well suited for professionals with a blend of HR, consulting and program management experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the LGT VP team and external partners to manage the full program cycle of the LGT Impact Fellowship, including marketing and communications, program design and development, stakeholder management, recruitment, logistics, events management, etc.
  • Manage the extensive yearly recruitment process end-to-end and act as a competent point of contact for participating portfolio organizations and candidates
  • Host information webinars during the recruitment phase
  • Manage the fellowship cohort, incl. organizing and facilitating quarterly update calls, support and coach fellows, organize training webinars, etc.
  • Organize and facilitate the yearly 1-week kick-off workshop in Kenya or Switzerland - a core element of the program - bringing together all fellows of each annual cohort from across the globe 
  • Build fellowship program capabilities and organizational learning: improve management systems, performance monitoring, implement process improvements, etc.
  • Manage Fellowship alumni relations and develop online/offline alumni outreach channels (alumni mailing list, alumni gatherings, LinkedIn group, etc.)
  • Oversee all budgets and financials of the fellowship program 
  • Complete all status reports for the LGT VP board

Requirements

  • Mid-level professional with 4-8 years of HR, consulting, project management or program management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area; MBA or other advanced degree in a relevant field preferred
  • People oriented with a strong drive towards empowering passionate professionals to work in purposeful organizations
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels as well as possess strong mentoring and guidance skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; with an ability to formulate and present analysis and arguments in a clear, crisp and concise manner
  • Results-driven, detail-oriented, organized, self-starter, willing to work independently with limited supervision and take responsibility for own actions
  • Experience working in an international environment with strong cultural sensitivity
  • Flexibility, open-mindedness and the ability to deal with ambiguity, unforeseeable events and changing environment
  • Fluency in English
  • Versed with Microsoft Office package, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Nice to have, but not mandatory: experience working with an Applicant Tracking System (ideally Rexx Systems)
  • Must have: valid work permit to work in Kenya
