Head of Finance & Controlling, Region Düsseldorf or Frankfurt, remote possible
The Business Unit (BU) Finance leader is responsible for the financial leadership of the business unit, driving financial performance, strategic planning, and risk management. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, cost control, and compliance while acting as a key business partner to senior management to optimize profitability and growth.
To drive standardization within the BU, in line with Group directions, is also a key area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy & Business Partnering
Develop and implement the financial strategy of the BU in alignment with corporate objectives.
Provide strategic financial guidance to the BU CEO and leadership team.
Drive profitability, cost efficiency, and growth initiatives.
Support decision-making with financial modelling, scenario analysis, and investment evaluation.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning process within the BU and align with global guidance.
Analyse financial performance and provide insights on revenue, margins, and costs.
Identify risks and opportunities, ensuring corrective actions are taken proactively.
Prepare detailed management reports and dashboards for executive leadership.
3. Financial Controlling & Reporting
Ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and corporate policies
Overall responsible for BU month-end close process and monthly reporting
Monitor and control the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow of the BU.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
Drive cost reduction initiatives and ensure efficient capital allocation.
Be the first point of contact for auditors and other (financial) stakeholders
4. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Oversee cash flow planning, liquidity management, and working capital optimization.
Manage financial risks related to currency exposure, credit, and operational finance.
Ensure effective treasury management in collaboration with corporate finance.
5. Tax Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations (Corporate tax, VAT, withholding tax, transfer pricing) and financial regulations.
Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and legal teams on financial matters.
Oversee tax reporting and filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
Identify and mitigate financial and tax risks, ensuring adherence to corporate governance standards.
Oversee risk assessments and ensure adherence to corporate governance standards.
6. Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the BU finance team of 3 FTE's today at different locations.
Foster a culture of financial discipline, transparency, and accountability.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and supply chain teams.
7. In collaboration with BU management - drive towards meeting BU's strategic objectives
Proactively perform financial and value adding analyses, provide quality information about the BU's financial and business performance, identify financial risk and recommend effective solutions.
Working closely with all parts of the organization and support various stakeholders with both the business and financial perspective.
Find the right sets of data, compile it in a flexible and user-friendly way.
Make sure financial understanding is high within the BU organization
Support the global SPM initiative with processes and tools within the BU
Support M&A initiatives - especially in the integration phase
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred).
Long-term experience in financial leadership, controlling, or CFO roles.
Strong expertise in financial planning, reporting, and risk management.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and advanced financial modeling.
Proven track record in business partnering and strategic decision-making.
Experience from a manufacturing environment
Computer literacy and digital mindset
Experience and ability to handle large amounts of data
Management skills
Language: Fluent in German and English (oral and written)

Analytical Expertise: Strong ability to interpret complex financial data, interpret results and trends in a meaningful way, ability to see patterns and spot differences as well as the big picture

Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to cost control, risk mitigation, and efficiency improvement. Good interpersonal skills.
Project Controlling skills (as a backup for the team)
Proactive hands-on mentality and ability to meet and exceed deadlines.
Enjoys working across multiple entities, functional areas, countries and nationalities.
Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Excel.
Experienced in working with BI tools, such as Aaro, Power BI, Cognos, Qlik View and/or TM1.
Experienced in working with ERP systems, preferrable SAP and drive development further
