To strengthen our team at the Institute of Cell Biology we are looking for a doctoral researcher (f/m/d) for the Research Training Group 2901/1 SYLOBIO, starting on 01.03.2025, in part-time position (26 hours/week), limited to 30.06.2028 and payed according to TV-L. 
The Research Training Group 2901/1 SYLOBIO investigates mechanisms related to the local and systemic compatibility of biomaterials for endoprosthetic joint replacement and for the treatment of chronic wounds. The research training group offers an excellent research platform with interfaces to genomics (multi-omics), immunology, microbiology, and materials science using state-of-the-art methods and technologies. The interdisciplinary research is framed by extensive systems biology, bioinformatics and epidemiological studies

Your tasks

  • Characterization of biomaterial incompatibility by cell and molecular biological investigations in the RTG 2901/1 SYLOBIO
  • Characterization of cellular mechanism  for the interaction and uptake of wear and corrosion products using microscopic techniques, molecular biological methods (incl. OMICs technologies) and systems biology approaches
  • Participation in the qualification and study program of the RTG SYLOBIO
  • Willingness to spend several weeks abroad
  • Cooperation with national and international research partners
  • Publication of results in internationally recognized journals and presentation at national and interna­tional congresses
  • Willingness to complete the scientific qualification (Dissertation)

Your qualification:

  • Excellent scientific university degree (Master) in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or equivalent
  • Pleasure in interdisciplinary and experimental work and interest in application-oriented questions
  • Independent working style and ability to work on new topics
  • Experience in cell biological and molecular biologi­cal methods and with human cell cultures
  • Experience in immunology and/or with biomaterials is recommended
  • Very good knowledge of English is required
