Cloud Engineer

Our product squads are cross-functional and durable, generally composed of a product manager, a product designer, and several qualified engineers.   As a Cloud Engineer you treat operations as if it's a software problem. Our mission in this department is to protect our cloud products with an ever-watchful eye on their availability, latency, performance, and capacity. We ensure that Matrix42's services - for our internally critical and our externally-visible systems - have reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs and a fast rate of improvement.
Our Cloud Engineers can manage complex challenges of scale, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design.

MUST HAVES

• 2+ years of experience working as Cloud Engineer or comparable position with Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Knowledge of infrastructure operations and knowledge of current cloud technologies.
• Great exposure to building production observability mechanisms (system heath, metrics aggregation, logs management, dashboards) using 3rd party tools like New Relic, Prometheus, ELK stack or cloud provider native tools like Azure Monitor, Azure Application Insights, Azure Log Analytics.
• Good scripting skills (Bash/PowerShell/Python).
• Excellent understanding of running production container-based workloads, ideally with Azure AKS.
• Basics with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet or similar.
• Initial experience building build pipelines (CI/CD), ideally in Azure DevOps or Github.
• First competence in how load balancing works, ideally experience in configuring load balancers with e.g. F5 or Azure Application Gateway/Traffic Manager.
• Database skills (MSSQL, Azure SQL, Mongo DB).
• Experience with Active Directory/Entra ID, DNS, Virtualization, Networks, VPN, Backup & Restore.

  NICE TO HAVE  

• Experience setting up and operating alerting for production workloads.
• Adaptability to explore Infrastructure subjects from scratch and create PoC.
• Experience with VMware vSphere and VMware NSX to manage virtual machines, virtual networks, and virtual storage.
• Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.

  What we are not looking for  

• Classic DevOps Engineer who has a lot of knowledge with building pipelines etc., but less about infrastructures and their troubleshooting.
• Someone with deep AWS knowledge and no Azure knowledge.
