As an interdisciplinary science, bioinformatics addresses biological questions using methods from computer science. The on-the-job/evening Master's program in Bioinformatics thus combines Applied Computer Science, Data Management, and Data Analysis with Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Bioinformatics. We are expanding our team and are looking for part-time lecturers for the Winter semester 2025/26 at the FH Campus Wien Favoritenstraße 226, 1100 Wien, for the lecture - Workflow Design - (Winter semester 2025/26: 1 SWS = 20 units; due to a change in curriculum, starting summer 2026 the lecture will take place in the summer semester with 1,5 SWS = 30 units)

Your Responsibilities

  • Active design and delivery of lectures, including exams (lectures will take place on weekdays from 6:15 PM to 9:30 PM or on Saturdays, by arrangement)
  • Design of practical exercises
  • Development and supervision of distance learning (approximately 50% of the course)
  • The course will be conducted in English.

Your Profile

  • Relevant Master's or diploma degree, or comparable qualification
  • Professional experience in workflow design with Nextflow, Snakemake, and Galaxy
  • Preferably experience in programming with Python and with the Linux operating system
  • Very good English language skills
  • Interest in natural sciences and in implementing bioinformatics projects
  • Enjoyment of working with students, imparting knowledge, and implementing innovative teaching concepts
  • Teaching experience is desirable
