We are looking to add a highly-skilled Applications Engineer to our team.  The Applications Engineer is responsible for completion of the Application's portion of the turnkey project by developing processes and CNC programming to manufacture customer parts to the quoted cycle time and quality requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the execution of the turnkey, ensuring that it meets customer requirements, is on time and within budget.
  • Sets tooling and creates machining programs to accurately manufacture the part.
  • Improves quality and cycle time by performing a SPC run off of the process.
  • Troubleshoot turnkey related problems and provide machining solutions.
  • Application of gauging techniques (including CMM, hand gauges, etc.) to verify turnkey process certification.
  • Perform pre-acceptance and final acceptance of turnkey machines both at Chiron and the customer's facilities.
  • Assist in the installation of machines at the customer's site.
  • Travel to the customer's location to provide onsite application's assistance
  • Conduct training classes for customer personnel.
  • Assist service personnel, customers and distributors when troubleshooting machine performance issues.
  • Work with Proposal Engineers / Sales staff on application processes for new machines and quoting purposes.
  • Answer customer programming and applications questions by phone.
  • Assist in creating and modifying procedures for qualification and installation of machines.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Fanuc CNC programming is required.   5-axis programming experience is strongly preferred.  Siemens NC programming experience is a plus.
  • An Associate's degree (or equivalent vocational school certificate) in electrical or mechanical engineering or related discipline desired.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft office and Solid Works or CAD/CAM is required. Siemens NX and MasterCam programming software is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of parametric programming (Fanuc Macro B, Siemens parametric, Okuma User Task) and ability to create and understand basic programs with this technique.
  • Knowledge and application of SPC techniques for evaluating and troubleshooting process variationFamiliar with GD&T and adjusting machining program/offsets/tool offsets using CMM reports, drawings, models, etc.
  • Has a wide variety of part type manufacturing experience in the automotive, aerospace industry, and/or medical industry.
  • High understanding of cutting parameters and types of cutting tools for a wide variety of part and material types such as aluminum, peek, stainless steel, titanium, and such.
  • Understanding of work holding and fixturing.
  • Has the ability to troubleshoot fixtures to determine root cause of failure.
  • Understanding of the ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Must be able to travel as needed 50% of the time or more.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk, work inside and outside of equipment, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.   Regularly operates a computer to program equipment, often for long periods of time, while sitting or use hands and fingers to grasp, feel, or handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  Sit while driving/flying during the day or at nighttime to customer locations. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
