POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As a Controls System Engineer, you will act as a critical link between the control and software development teams and the service team. Your role will focus on analyzing, troubleshooting, and optimizing the control systems of our advanced 3D printing machinery, supporting both field service personnel and ongoing system improvement initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continuous development of cutting-edge manufacturing technology.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the service team regarding assigned machine fleets.
  • Provide guidance and support for troubleshooting controls system issues, including direct service at machines when necessary.
  • Develop and propose solutions for issue resolution, collaborating with development teams for design modifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement by providing feedback to the development team based on field performance.
  • Deliver training to service personnel on the control systems of SLM machinery.
  • Assess feasibility and design custom solutions for control system upgrades, considering specific local regulations.
  • Analyze and resolve technical issues, leveraging tools and knowledge of PLC programming, drive systems, and network protocols.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years in system design for highly complex control systems in industries such as industrial manufacturing, automotive, medical, or aerospace.
  • 3+ years as a PLC Developer and Automation Designer.
  • Solid understanding of automation and control technologies, including electro-mechanical components.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming tools and languages (Siemens TIA Portal, Schneider, SCL/ST, CoDeSys).
  • Knowledge of drive systems, network protocols (TCP, UDP), and tools like Wireshark.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, wiring diagrams, pneumatic systems, and system requirements.
  • Strong skills in electrical engineering and electrical construction.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to investigate issues thoroughly and submit detailed bug reports.
